All manuscripts submitted to the Journal of Tropical Agricultural Innovation (JTAI) undergo a peer review process to ensure scientific quality, originality, and relevance to the journal’s scope.

1. Initial Editorial Screening

  • Upon submission, the Editor-in-Chief and Editorial Board conduct an initial assessment to check topic relevance, formatting, and document completeness.

  • Manuscripts that do not comply with the journal’s scope or format may be returned to authors for revision before peer review.

  • All submissions are screened using plagiarism detection software (e.g., Turnitin). Manuscripts with a similarity index above 20% will be returned or rejected.

2. Peer Review Process

  • JTAI applies a double-blind review system, meaning both authors and reviewers remain anonymous to each other.

  • Each manuscript is reviewed by at least two independent reviewers who are experts in the relevant field.

  • Reviewers evaluate the following criteria:

    • Originality and scientific contribution

    • Relevance to the journal’s focus and scope

    • Soundness of methodology

    • Clarity of results and discussion

    • Accuracy and completeness of references

    • Quality of writing and presentation

3. Reviewer Recommendations

Reviewers may recommend one of the following decisions:

  • Accepted: the manuscript is accepted without revision.

  • Minor Revision: minor changes are required before acceptance.

  • Major Revision: significant revisions are required before further consideration.

  • Rejected: the manuscript is not suitable for publication in this journal.

4. Author Revisions

  • Authors are given 10–20 working days to revise their manuscripts according to reviewer comments.

  • A response to reviewers document must accompany the revised manuscript, detailing the changes made.

  • Revised manuscripts may be re-evaluated by reviewers if necessary.

5. Final Decision

  • The Editor-in-Chief makes the final decision on manuscript acceptance, considering reviewers’ recommendations and editorial judgment.

  • Accepted manuscripts will proceed to copyediting, layout editing, and proofreading before open access publication.

6. Review Timeline

  • The entire review process typically takes 4–8 weeks, depending on the responsiveness of reviewers and authors.

  • JTAI is committed to maintaining transparency, objectivity, and timeliness throughout the review and publication process.
